Q Bond features two different powders to suit different repair types: black powder and grey powder. These powders act as special reinforcers and fillers for cracks, holes, gaps, and breaks in plastics or metals.

For example, you can use Q Bond to fill in a hole in the metal. You sprinkle Q Bond grey powder into the hole (make sure you cover the back of the metal to prevent spillage) and then add a few drops of the Q Bond ultra-strong superglue to it. Wait for 10 to 15 seconds, and voila, the hole is filled in. Use a file to smooth out the fix.

How To Apply Q Bond

You can apply Q Bond on:

  • Metals
  • Woods, ceramics
  • Plastics, except polyethylene or polypropylene
  • Leathers
  • Synthetic rubbers

Q Bond cannot permanently create a bond for glass or any material with high alkaline content. If you apply the superglue to anything that contains polyethylene, polypropylene, or Teflon, your fixes will not hold up long and break instantly. When using Q Bond, avoid staying close to high heat — Q Bond is a combustible liquid.

You will likely use both Q Bond superglue and the filling powders together for your repairs. Be careful when applying the solutions and avoid having them reach your eyes and skin. Always wear protective gloves or eye protection when working with Q Bond.

Repairing Breakage

Clean the surface you want to repair from any grease, dust, or contaminants. If there’s paint, use acetone to remove it. Apply Q Bond Ultra-High bond adhesive to the repair area and wait for a few seconds. Then, apply the reinforcing powder on top of the glue.

After that, apply sufficient Q Bond Ultra-high Bond liquid adhesive to the powder. A chemical reaction will occur. In less than 15 seconds, the repair is completed.

Repairing Large Cracks or Holes

It would be good to clean the surface you want to repair from any grease, dust, or contaminants before your Q Bond application. You’ll want to use tape or anything similar to temporarily cover the other side of the hole before applying the Q Bond to prevent spillage. Apply Q Bond to the crack or hole and wait for at least 12 seconds to complete the chemical reaction.

Sand or file the repair area to give it a smooth finish. It would be best to wait for the repair to settle properly in the next 12 hours to achieve the best strength. Don’t forget to remove the tape after that.
